You can mention July 1st as the start date for your H-1 and you wife’s H-4. So both petitions will have the same start date. The next day after expiry of her OPT.

Will it be July 1st, 2024, since her OPT EAD expires on June 30th, 2024, or will it be July 3rd, 2024, since my H1B is valid until July 2nd, 2024? I noticed that we can specify the preferred start date on the I-539 form. If I mention my wife’s H4 and H4 EAD start date as July 1st, 2024, considering her OPT expires on June 30th, 2024, and if I apply early enough, will that be honored in most cases?
